I returned from Ireland last night to find a complimentary box of chocolates in my mail. Thank you very much for this kind and unexpected gesture.
 
You and the team at PW Cars will be pleased to hear that the xc70 ran very well indeed in all departments and delivered a computer read-out (from a full tank of BP Ultimate diesel) of 41.3mpg on a round trip of just short of 1000 miles which saw it pass through the 150k mileage mark too. The only adjustment I made was to the tyre pressures and the windscreen wash.
 
As we approached London on the M1 last night we actually commented how well the car had performed and, while it was somewhat of a chore (and v. expensive !) to get to the bottom of the recent problems and fix them, we concur here that the results have been very agreeable. It is a different car for the better.

I was very satified after my visits to sort my V70. I can't believe how much the ETM costs but can't do without it eh!

Thanks for the loan of the 2 cars. The T5 really impressed me and made me realise my tuned V70 was well down on power.

My drive back to France was uneventful but the car drove really differently and nicely too.

Firstly thank you for sorting everything out (again) with the purchase of my “nice, new shiny car” that Sarah has now gone off with the children in!!! As usual Whitakers provided a smooth and faultless service, and one you should all be proud of.

As discussed additionally we are picking Sarah’s XC90 tomorrow from Lymington and that will be coming to you very soon so it can be chipped, purely for consumption reasons obviously, checked over and then put under warranty as you suggested.

As regards my car, you were right I need to be wary of my right foot, as the take off in a chipped auto is very different to a manual!!! And finally have you got some sort of user manual, a PDF email is fine, for the satnav thing and how to properly use it and make it TV, the TV request is because apparently at least one of the children seem to feel they want to sit in the car and watch it instead of driving me mad. I think that might be worth a flat battery!!!

"Thanks for the note.  I do still have the car which has now covered some 130,000 miles. 

I have been impressed with PW Cars, the car was well prepared and was exactly as described and you were very helpful, when we had to claim on this warrantee for a Turbo Hose failure and facilitated us getting the work done by the local Landrover Dealer.  Largely the car has since been trouble free, so we have been well pleased. 

The car is due for a change soon so I probably won’t extend the warrantee, but I intend to replace it with a later Freelander and would definitely give PW Cars a chance to supply.  (You seemed to understand Landrover better than our local dealer).

It just occurred to me that I still haven`t given you the boots I promised, I will still do this but I know you understand what a hectic year it has been!
 
Just thought I would let you know that the warrantee we bought did exactly what it said on the tin. MTM couldn`t fix the issue with the car so it went to Kastner in Exeter who sorted everything and the warrantee claim same day on our behalf.
 
Everything PWC claims about their reputation they deliver upon. I cant recommend you guys highly enough; from purchasing what has turned out to be a great value deal and warrantee to sorting unexpected issues the service has been first class.

We recently purchased a XC70 from you and I thought I should drop you a line and thank you for the service we received during the purchase; you both made us feel at ease and it was a pleasure [well lamost] to hand over the money to you!

I have just come back from Italy, having driven down there for 3 weeks, and the car drove and handled perfectly. On the autostrada it was a joy and although it handled the narrow mountain roads to our house perfectly, I might need some more practice with an automatic in those conditions [I missed my clutch a bit on the steep hairpin bends!].

I will contact you over the next few weeks to see if you can help us with a set of winter wheels as we will drive down again at christmas [there was already snow around chamonix as I drove back]

Just wanted to send a quick thank you note on two accounts.

Just before I was leaving on summer vacation in France a few weeks back, my V70 D5 I purchased from you over a year ago had developed what sounded like asthma. Turned out that the ECU needed replacing... Normally a pretty expensive thing to do but thanks to the additional insurance I took out on your recommendation, this was a no cost repair.

Safe to say that the insurance have already paid for itself several times over!

I was very disappointed that you sold the first C30 in Black and I missed out. However, in the long run I am very glad you did sell it to somebody else because you got me an even better C30 in Black and I love it!! How you found this car so quickly, I really don`t know - the pwcars magic works very well.  Thank you for a brilliant car and doing everything so fast including the racetuning really was an excellent service from all your team.  You all really are professional without pressurising.  In fact it is more like visiting friends than walking into a show room to buy a car.  At 20 years of age I had no intention of buying a Volvo at all, I felt they were for people a bit older than me - until, that is, I test drove the C30 with Dave!!!  Wow, my eyes were opened.

"Dear Phil, Dave, Matt & Kate,

You are surely this Island’s most hidden secret! Having spent 2 weeks clinging on to ‘’dreams ‘’ of owning a Range Rover and all of them subsequently dashed with exceptionally poor responses (if at all), it was like a breath of fresh air stumbling across PWCARS.CO.UK as I did....quite innocently  for ‘’quality and reliable used 4 x 4’s’’.

I know that I am not alone when I say that ‘’Good Old Fashioned Service with real and sincere values’’ is rarer than looking for hens teeth these days ...a sad indictment of the world we live in. It was coincidental that I was an existing owner of a late low mileage example of a rather nice V50 too as the migration of thought from Land Rover to The Volvo Marque was indeed to become a subtly smooth transition.

Phil Whittaker leads an exceptionally enthusiastic, knowledgeable and extremely courteous team of staff whose combined energies and hosting qualities exude all the aura of a friendly ‘’family owned and run ‘’ business in point of fact. They play the game as a team...not as individuals...a difficult art to perfect in sales technique but an altogether more rewarding experience in my view. ‘’All for One and One for All’’

PWCARS is THE PLACE to contemplate & peruse very well appointed used vehicles stock and Volvo brands in particular.

The whole process of initially investigating the potential sale of my Volvo to ultimately deciding to purchase another through part exchange from a website viewing 110 miles away was awesome. It was managed very professionally and without intimidation and with an unprecedented level of support to a rash of questions and emails that ensued on my part culminating with a personal visit and a sincere offer and commitment between us to do business.

I know that I am going to really enjoy my first XC90 and the thrill of an upgraded BHP output to boot on a simply purring 2.9 Straight 6! I will make it a point to recommend these unsung heroes of an Industry sector that has always been burdened by questionable pedigree in terms of ‘’honesty, integrity and first and foremost Good Service’’. Thank you, I did enjoy my easter weekend.

Many thanks for your prompt action on my car. As I said at the time these things happen and it certainly cannot be laid at your door. The fact that you all pulled together to achieve a resolution so quickly was great. I was, after all, only without my car for a day and you extended me the courtesy of a loan vehicle whilst mine was being repaired (the Audi is nowhere near as nice as the Volvo in my humble opinion).

I would, again, like to thank you all at PW Cars for the pleasant experience when buying my car (No lights or sirens fitted yet!!). Everybody was most helpful and willing to assist without any pressure. The professionalism shown by all and the work carried out was superb. I was surprised that, when looking at the service book, I found that the cambelt and auxilliary belts had been replaced even though they were not due for a further 20,000 miles. I can only assume this was done as a result of my question on the lifespan of the cambelt. It certainly adds great peace of mind. Everything that I had questioned or pointed out during my viewing of the car was dealt with without any fuss and I took delivery of a superbly serviced and turned out vehicle which I am extremely proud to own and love. My wife has named her "Big Sexy" and she enjoys driving her as well.

I will, in time, have the upgrade done to the chip and will, of course, return her to you for that job. I certainly will not hesitate to recommend you to anyone who wants a car in the hope that they will visit you and enjoy the experience as I did and go home with a car that they want turned out to a very high standard.

"From the moment I made contact with the team from Race Tune it became clear that these guys were very professional. Compared to many companies I contacted their responses were very fast and comprehensive. I have had two cars tuned by mechanics at Race Tune and I have only good news to report. First up for tuning was my wife’s A4 2.0 TDI 140 BHP. The change to this engine was very noticeable, easier revving, and all of the 180 BHP seems to be available with no turbo lag.  Add to this the 85 Nm of torque and the whole drive is so much better. The best feedback I can give on the A4 is that my wife noticed the difference immediately and she had been used to a very swift Ford Puma in the recent past.

Given how well the first mapping had gone I decided to go back the next day to get my car upgraded. My car is an A6 3.0 TDI 233 BHP version. This is not a slow car to start with and following the remapping it is now ballistic. In practical terms the extra 110 nm of torque was available immediately in the rev range, before it had been subject to some lag and did not kick in until 1800 RPM. Without doubt I am sure that all of the additional 50 BHP is available and it shows. I should not forget the economy benefits either, both cars showed an improvement in consumption of at least 5 MPG, so it is brilliant to see the laws of physics being bent in favour of the motorist for once. I really must recommend the Race-Tune team who were very professional and do just what they say."

I brought my car in yesterday for its service and MOT - I expect you noticed the old thing there! 
 
I would like to say it runs like 2 year old again, I`ve even managed to raise the seat more than I had before (should have come to you when I suspected it was stuck) and, as usual the service was excellent and the mechanic (Phil) caring and courteous.  In fact, he cares for my old geriatric car so very well that it`s a pity our hospitals don`t care for their geriatric patients in the same way. 
 
I don`t know where you get your mechanics from, indeed your whole staff, because they are really thoughtful and kind. I even have a laugh with other customers! I believe the influence comes from the top, so well done Phil.
 
My courtesy car yesterday was a manual V50 and, as is usual with most of the courtesy cars, my son wanted to sit in it.  He absolutely loved the layout of the car with the new "floating" control panel with the gap behind.  He didn`t feel he suited an estate car - well, at 20, who does?!  However, he thinks the new Volvos are far more to his taste and I suggested he talk to you if he wants one and see what you can get for him.

Try as I might, I can find nothing but praise for the smooth handling and excellent fuel consumption, (up 6% on last week`s delivery level and a cool 34% above the average for the old red one). It is a pleasure to drive.The family loved it too.

I do wish that you had told me before just how quiet, smooth, powerful and fuel efficient is the diesel engine. For 7 years I have beeen driving the  petrol powered low mpg variant  and would have welcomed even the merest hint that the diesel was better.

I am very pleased with the car and have now thoroughly read and re-read the handbook and am amazed at all the new gadgets that Volvo manage to pack into their vehicles now, truly remarkable. They always seem to have a very good "build quality" with all their cars. I am glad that I had you fit the much thicker tyres, I am sure they will give a smoother ride and will be better able to cope with some of the rougher farm tracks down which I occasionally have to travel.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to PWC and in particular your sales person Dave Shaw for recommending an extended warranty. Initially I was a little sceptical as to its value, HOWEVER I`ve had cause to make 3 claims so far, any one of these were of equal or greater cost than the 3 year warranty - and this is only the 1st year of the 3 years !

So the warranty has more then paid for itself already !

In the current financial climate its great that I can feel confident in the knowledge that I won`t be getting any nasty repair bills - in hindsight if I`d not purchased the warranty it would have been a false economy.

Buying a car is not always a pleasure even when you know what you want. Dealers often put you through a pantomime of a performance which includes; withholding information so that you have to visit their premises; leaving you and `checking` with their manager, before they can offer discounts etc.

I did not get any of this at PW Cars. You sent me so much information before hand that I had a really good idea of what I needed to check. The whole business was unhurried and unpressurised so that I enjoyed buying the car. In my view this is what buying a car should be like.

"Hi Phil, just wanted to say thank you to you and the team.

I wasn’t intending on purchasing a Volvo,in fact far from it, but after a chance drive by after looking at Saabs down the road, I decided to do a u-turn and check on the silver s80 I saw parked out front. The difference between PW Cars and other dealers I went to, was the unpressured sales technique and friendly disposition of the staff. You allowed me to sit in the car and offered to take me a for a spin, which is all fine, but the big difference was your factual presentation of the car itself, and of Volvo as a manufacturer as we drove it around. I hate pushy sales and sales people that really don’t know what they are talking about but Phil, you knew your stuff and it showed as I bought the S80 the next day!

I decided to go for the engine tuning and I have to say it was well worth it. I will send you an update on the fuel consumption once ive done a few weeks in it to let you know how its improved, but for now let me say the roaring grunt puts a smile on face when I put the peddle down!!

However, the reason I`m replying is you might wish to know that I had reason to make a warranty claim recently for a leaking inter-cooler and Warranty Management Services made the process very easy and paid up promptly. The only slight snag being that they couldn`t quite match the labour rate of my local Volvo dealer, but the saving on the warranty you provided was still considerable and well worth taking out.

"Just wanted to say a quick thanks for the recent excellent service from yourselves. I purchased a V70 in exchange for my much loved XC90 Ocean Race. Jerry dealt with the sale and was polite and professional in every respect. I had to return the car 2 weeks later for a couple of minor problems, these were repaired free of charge very quickly and your service department were friendly and again, very professional. I first heard about your company when I was looking for a car in August 2006. I looked at two of your S60 D5s and was impressed by the knowledge and enthusiasm of the team at PWC. Even though I bought a S60 D5 elsewhere, confident that you knew your stuff, I decided that I would do servicing through yourselves. When service time came around the car was booked in and I decided to go for a Sports Upgrade.

The engine seems smoother and overtaking is now effortless. MPG has stayed about the same whilst GPM (Grins Per Mile) have gone up considerably!

After buying my car through eBay I found the service top class even opening on a Sunday for me to collect my car for the drive home to Wales. It never missed a beat since I have put another 10 thousand miles on it without a problem will be using again very soon for a rica upgrade to a s80 T6 I am buying and the chocolates were a surprise I never expected! Top blokes the lot of you highly recommended.

"Hi Phil,

Just to say thank you for sorting us out with a great car and superb service and custumer care. Your business ethos is terrific, hence we will be back when this car needs replacing in 4 years time. At the same time we are spreadig the word around, if our friends need a good second hand Volvo, go to you.

It was interesting what you said about the suspension on my old T5. It certainly explains why the suspension was so hard and why we had to travel very slowly over speed bumps etc on the road, it often felt like the backend was lifting it self up and coming down with a big bang.

I know that if I had bought the Volvo from you in the first place this would have been sorted out before I bought the car. In other words I dont need to check the car out before buying it, I know you have sorted everything out before I drive away. It gives us peace of mind, and I dont mind paying extra for that. Its worth it. So thank you very much and I wish you all success in 2007 and beyond. Keep it up.

"I must praise Dave for his excellent service during the recent purchase of my car. It was only one of your trade clearance cars & not even a Volvo, but at no point was I made to feel like a less important customer.

The respray done on the bonnet between first seeing the car & purchasing it was superb - as good as new! Friends & colleagues can`t believe how little money I had to part with for my new car.

"Hi,

Was just browsing through your stock of V70`s when I saw the opportunity to submit customer comments. I recently had my V70 in for a minor repair with the electric fan and 2 new tyres, and I have to say, the service recieved was second to none. Up until that point I had always used main dealers, but certainly in future, I will be returning to you for any repairs and servicing my V70 will require. Honest service, honest pricing and reliability, thankyou. I will want to upgrade my V70 for a newer version at some point, and when the right one comes along, I will certainly be hoping to be in a position to do a part-ex.
